About Us

Hi! We are Ben and Kristin Prime, both of non-farming families but with an inexplicable drive towards all things cattle, fences, and dirt, that has ultimately brought us together on this road to creating Prime Farm. We met while in college in upstate NY where Ben found himself working on farms and starting a farm-student outreach program. I was studying biology,  riding horses and  dreaming about farming. I had been working and hanging around farms with whoever would take me since I was 12 years old and I really wanted to be a dairy farmer!

When Ben and I met,  our very first conversation was about cows and not much has changed!

After graduation, Ben did a stint on a ranch out west, and I tagged along, visiting when I could. The farming bug only strengthened from there. It turns out that the cattle business is an expensive start up, so we spent many years working and saving, and in 2019 we purchased our first 2 cows. Since then, Prime Farm has been a constant and tireless project for us. 5 years and thousands of fence posts, hay bales and setbacks later, we have grown to the small producer level with 30+ cows. We hope this is just the beginning! Our mission (and it is an ambitious one for this rock-ridden, land sparce, part of the world) is to continue with our obsession of raising quality beef locally- here in central NH. Why? Because well managed, pastured animals provide protein that gives back and we believe this is crucial to a sustainable local food system.

Thank you for your support. It is everything to us!

Where is the Farm?

All around town! Our home base Farm aka “winter camp” for our animals is at our house and surrounding 20 acres in North Sutton, NH. From May-November, however, our cows have the immense privilege of going to some beautiful “summer camp” pastures around town thanks to our amazing land-owners.  You will see them on Main Street in New London, behind old stone walls on Hominy Pot road and Corporation Hill road, and tucked away on Baker Road in Sutton where they spend their summers rotating around the fields, eating, and leaving their contribution to the soil (manure).

We'd love to hear from you!
